Skincare Travel 101 with Dermalogica
If you've ever been on a long-haul flight, you'll know all about your skin feeling dirty, sticky and dull all at the same time - and that's only getting there. Now throw in public transport, shops, ferries, museums, restaurants, more public transport and what do you get? A very unhappy skin situation. (sigh) Travel is great for the mind and soul, yes, but unfortunately it can be so harsh and unkind to one’s skin.
That was until I got introduced to a charcoal powerhouse. The perfect travel companion no matter what the destination is. The main objective has always been to feel CLEAN, clear and fresh, and for the dirtier, greasier parts of London to be absorbed from under my skin. And what did I get? Bright, radiant, calm and squeaky clean (but not dry) skin.
I've always been a bit skeptical of charcoal face masks and its ingredients being a tad too oily and skewed at acne prone skin. I thought coal would be too harsh on my skin being the exact opposite of that, but boy oh boy was I wrong. Mark my words: I will, from now on, travel with one mask and one mask only: The Charcoal Rescue Mask.
Activated charcoal deeply cleanses and promotes blood circulation while Sulphur brightens any dull skin. Volcanic Ash features on the ingredients list and is seen as nature's skin purifier. I like the sound of that. I'm not a fan of very rough exfoliators which is why the scrubby ingredients in this mask really appeals to me: Volcanic Ash, Sea Salt, Bamboo Extract and alpha hydroxy acids. These also help with fine lines and can help with acne scars.
The addition of Tea Tree Oil in this winning recipe explains why it's also seen as an anti-bacterial mask, so back off bacteria and other baddies! I won't be caught without a tube of this dark hero in my suitcase ever again. And that's a promise. Shop for it online or at a Dermalogica stockist for R790.
